India's Paytm has withdrawn its POS app a day after it was released amid security concerns.

Paytm released a new point-of-sale app dubbed Paytm POS to much fanfare on Wednesday, addressing the inadequate availability of POS machines in India. Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma was expecting over 10 million downloads of Paytm POS app by the weekend.

However, the ecommerce company announced last evening it is rolling back the app, a decision it reached after talking with several stakeholders and realising its app needed to be more secure. Shortly after its release, payment network giants MasterCard and Visa had flagged privacy concerns in how Paytm POS app was handling user details.  Read more...

Older Teen Drivers Involved In More Fatal Crashes Than Younger Ones;Deaths Spiked 10 %, Report Finds

The recent jump in teen-involved fatal crashes “is troubling,” according to new analysis of federal data that indicates a 10% jump in 2015, the first uptick since 2006. Teen drivers are 1.6 times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than adult drivers, and 18- to 20-year-olds behind the wheel are more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than their 15- to 17-year-old counterparts.

Those are the main findings of a new report, “Mission Not Accomplished: Teen Safe Driving, the Next Chapter,” released last week by the Governors Highway Safety Association, a nonprofit organization representing state highway safety offices, that highlights the heightened risk for older drivers.

A recording of Today Show anchor Billy Bush having a lewd conversation with Donald Trump leaked on Friday afternoon.

Bush, who was on an Access Hollywood bus with Trump, could be heard talking about a woman that appears to be actress Arianne Zucker. The recording was published by the Washington Post

"Sheesh, your girl's hot as shit. In the purple. Whoa, the Donald is good! Whoa, my man!" he is heard saying.

Later, Bush apparently says in the 2005 tape: "Oof, get out of the way, honey. Oh, that's good legs. Go ahead."

Trump and Bush are then greeted when they get off the bus by Zucker, who escorts them onto the set of Days of Our Lives. Trump had a promotional cameo on the show that day. There were seven others on the bus besides Trump and Bush, including the camera crew, a bus driver and Trump's staff, according to Access Hollywood. Read more...

Frank Ocean is back at it, messing with our minds and maybe we finally have the new music we've all been waiting for. Or maybe it's just another tease, after that no-show a few weeks ago!

On Thursday night, Ocean's website began another mysterious livestream, but this time there was actually music playing while someone Ocean spent time building what looks like a staircase.

Then, Joe Coscarelli of the New York Times tweeted that a "visual album" is being released at midnight Thursday (no word on which time zone) and there's apparently more to come.

And, on cue, a link to a 45 minute video in iTunes called "Endless" went up just shy of midnight on the East Coast. The video is the same as the stream that's on the website of Ocean building... something.  Read more...

Getting blazed and athletic prowess may seem like an unlikely combination, except in the world of competitive skateboarding.

Skateboarding is one of five new sports set to make their debut at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, but the International Olympic Committee (IOC) - like your uncle who wants to get down with the youth - may not be ready for the anti-establishment nature of skate culture.

Australia's Tas Pappas, one of the world's top skateboarders in the '90s, has suggested the use of marijuana in skateboarding might dissuade athletes from wanting to compete at the Olympics. Read more...

Whether you're delivering presentations in front of colleagues, teaching industry workshops, or stepping on stage at a local or national conference, you've probably come across the same public-speaking advice one million times: “Picture them naked!” “Practice!” “Make eye contact!”

In my corporate years, I wrote speeches and helped prepare executives on their upcoming speaking engagements, from financial gatherings to SXSWedu. When it came to offering counsel, I used to give much of the same advice.

But this year, after launching my own business, I started booking my own speaking gigs. Much of the traditional guidance was helpful, but I found myself learning so many things beyond “Speak slowly!” that the new information helped ease my fears and allowed me to really engage the people I was talking to. Band of Horses' Ben Bridwell on how 'Why Are You OK' is like a new girlfriend

If you ask Ben Bridwell, making an album is a little bit like dating.

Just like a lot of people tend to seek out a new partner based on what they didn't find in their previous relationship, he admits that Band of Horses tend to go to extremes from album to album.

In fact, since their 2006 debut Everything All the Time - the critically adored home of "The Funeral" - Bridwell says that every new album "has been a direct result and contrast to the one that preceded it."

Looking back on Infinite Arms, their largest, most cinematic album, Bridwell is hesitant to describe it as overproduced, but admits "we kind of went bonkers with it." And despite the fact that the album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Alternative Album, they once again went in the opposite direction two years later on Mirage Rock, an album that didn't take itself quite as seriously, opting for a mix of analogue and live recording for what Bridwell considered to be a decidedly "haphazard" sound.  Read more...

Ever wondered why you shouldn't look directly at the sun? This is why.

Warning: Video contains graphic imagery.

Remember how your mother warned you never to look directly at the sun? Turns out, she was 101 percent correct.

On May 9, an astronomical event that only takes place around 13 times a century will occur: The planet Mercury will travel between the Earth and the sun.

Spectacular phenomena like this often encourage amateur astronomers to break out their dusty telescopes and take a peek. Inevitably, someone will forget just how bad an idea it is to look straight at the sun, whether through the naked eye or a telescope.

That's why Mark Thompson, a British astronomer and author, has put out a very graphic public service announcement. In the video, he exposes a pig's eye to sunlight through the eye piece of a telescope. By the time it starts smoking, as the sun quickly burns a hole through the cornea, you should have learned your lesson. Read more...

Feed-twFeed-fb

ABC has just debuted the latest member of Team TGIT and early indications are this Shondaland drama is yet another can't-miss.

The Catch, created by Allan Heinberg and produced by Shonda Rhimes' production company, stars Mireille Enos as a private detective named Alice who has a nose for deceit and learns in the first episode that the one scent she should have picked up was coming from inside her home.

Peter Krause plays Alice's fiancé — a man named Benjamin who is isn't actually named Benjamin. He's a man Alice and her co-workers refer to as Mr. X, a masterfully manipulative con man who wormed his way inside her trust bubble and bursts it wide open just days before they were set to get married — and makes off with $1.5 million of her money.
