'Telegraph' writer dramatically quits, saying HSBC coverage was 'fraud on readers'

LONDON — The Telegraph's chief political commentator has quit, slamming the publication for not covering key stories about banking giant HSBC, one of the paper's advertisers.

In a damning column about his resignation posted to Open Democracy, Peter Oborne, who worked for the paper for five years, alleges that the distinction between the Telegraph's advertising and editorial departments has collapsed

Oborne says that after researching the newspaper's coverage of HSBC he found "nothing unfavourable of any substance" written about the bank. Read more...
