When I walk into the new Frēda Salvador boutique on San Francisco's Fillmore Street, designer Cristina Nelson is wrangling a wire coat hanger into a new sandal design with gladiator-style straps that climb up the ankle. "We're trying to avoid the typical lucite form to display these," she explains.
