Fresh Trouble For Uber And Rivals In India As Government Seeks To Block Their Apps
The Delhi government has asked the country’s IT ministry to block taxi-summoning apps of Uber and its Indian rival, Ola, saying the two failed to comply with the requirements of the new licensing rules, reports said on Wednesday.
The IT ministry can easily comply with the government's request by blocking the startups' IP addresses. This will prevent users from accessing the apps to book cabs and, thus, bring Uber and its rivals' operations to a screeching halt in Delhi. Some other cities could follow suit.
