Volvo Sees New Plant As Key Cog In Reviving Brand's U.S. Fortunes

The potential for export, the possibility of a beachhead for American manufacture of Chinese cars, and other factors played roles in Volvo Cars' decision to build a new factory in South Carolina. But the key reason for this daring gambit is to resuscitate the Volvo brand's once-respectable place in the U.S. car market and revive sales that have declined for years.
