Broadway Box Office 6/1: Only "Something Rotten" And "The King And I" Beat Post-Memorial Day Slump
Something Rotten and The King And I were the only two shows to post significant gains in the post-Memorial Day week, which was otherwise a slump across the boards. Overall grosses were down almost 9%. Continuing to capitalize on excellent word of mouth, Something Rotten muscled past heavy hitters The Audience, Finding Neverland, and Beautiful, the latter of which saw the week's biggest drop of almost $236k. The King And I stayed above the $1 million mark for the third week in a row.
