Lenovo, the Chinese consumer electronics firm that ranks as world No. 1 seller of PCs, has long ruled its home market as government agencies buy devices in bulk and its Android smartphones gain traction. The $46 billion company with a modest pre-tax profit in 2014 also ranks No. 4 for personal computers in the United States, thriving there since its purchase of IBM’s PC business and mobility unit of Motorola, both American firms.
