New vinyl charts launched in UK as format sales soar by 69% year-on-year

LONDON — It's the format that just won't die. Last November vinyl sales passed the one million mark for the first time in 18 years and new data shows LP sales have reached a 20-year high in the UK, with album purchasing up 69% year-on-year.

Now, with sales soaring, the Official Charts Company (OCC) have announced two new charts for single and album releases on the format.

Ahead of this weekend's Record Store Day, the OCC has launched both the official Vinyl Albums Chart Top 40 and the Singles Chart Top 40 to keep track of sales. Read more...
