
The Italian Coast Guard and French ships rescued at least 3,700 migrants who were attempting the dangerous Mediterranean crossing from Africa on Saturday and early Sunday. The Coast Guard's action comes after at least 800 migrants died when their overcrowded boat struck a cargo vessel and sank off the coast of Libya on April 19, in the Mediterranean's deadliest known shipwreck
